Is Maith Liom Meteor

Looks like from today onwards, Ireland’s ever-increasing mobile operator Meteor will be offering their website through Irish – something that none of O2, Vodafone or Three currently do.

Andrew Kelly, speaking for Meteor, said

At Meteor we listen to our customers, and there was the demand for our website to be translated into Irish, so we simply made it happen. We are committed to providing all of our customers with a simple, easy to understand website, and we’re delighted to offer this service to our Irish speaking customers

I think its a shame the other operators don’t do it. When I was in Canada it was hard to find something on a shelf, in a store, or on a sign that wasn’t also written in French as well as English. Why can’t we just do the same over here? At least encourage the language or help people see what some of the most basic words and instructions are?

I get my bill in Irish from Vodafone, so they do do something.

Yeah vodafone! 😛 *rolls eyes* No free texts, really expensive. They just rock!

I’m meteor all the way! Free texts, brilliant support! 😛 Pretty damn cheap too! But o2 is good aswell. As for the whole we translated our websites into irish it is nice to see I suppose. But as someone who hates Irish (I’m in secondary school what do you expect! 😛 ) I’m not really that bothered but it is suprising that more irish websites don’t do it! How many .ie sites are in english only?? While nearly all .fr sites are in french. Then again, people in france speak french and not english so we don’t exactly have a need for websites to be in Irish. Its just a want for SOME people.

Is breá liom Meteor! Sea, gan amhras ni bheadh sé seo ag teastáil o gach éinne ach ta se go deas an rogha a bheith ann. Chomh maith leis sin, ni aithrionn an teacs ar suiomh mar seo go ro-mhinic, mar sin ni bheadh se ro-dheacair e a aistriu go Gaeilge o am go cheile.

Nior thaitin an Ghaeilge liom mar abhair nuair a bhios ar scoil ach an oiread ce gur d’fhreastal me ar scoil lan-Ghaelach.

Ró-dheacair, not at all. Fair play to meteor tho. Was unaware of the vodafone billing in Irish though. Is this a recent development?

I’ve been getting my bill in Irish for several months now. I don’t remember how I heard, or how long it’s been available.
