MAXroam To Launch Today

MAXroamPreviewed at TechCrunch40, Cork-based MAXroam (formerly roam4free) launches later today with Cubic Telecom getting its launch next month.

Kickoff for MAXroam looks set to be midday (12pm GMT) today and if you purchase a MAXroam sim, something I intend to do as I’ll be traveling in November this year along with trips to Toronto and possibly San Francisco in the New Year, you might win yourself an iPhone. Not only that, but the iPhone is unlocked so you’ll have no problem using your new MAXroam sim or your own Irish sim.

Mention of a blogger program too… curiosity has got me there but I’m sure most, if not all, will be revealed at 12 today.

Update:
Site launched before midday, grabbed myself a sim card. For €29.99 with €5 credit, the price is great considering the savings it can create.

  1. Maxroam went live

Cubic Telecom’s Maxroam went live today and I really like the prices for this international SIM card. Making a call to wherever in the world costs €0.35 if you are in Germany. There is no difference between countries. The entire world costs the €0.35…

Ken, Maxroam won’t have cheap roaming in Canada or USA, but charges over a Euro a minute in the latter

There are not any cheap roaming solutions there except get a local SIM card – from Rogers or Fido in Canada, Cingular T-mobile or one of several mvno brands in USA.

Why don’t Maxroam help set up using such a SIM and forward to it for a couple of cents a minute?

… or if you’d like to do it yourself, you could set up forwarding with a VoIP account and Irish number from Blueface, Freespeech or Smart076.

Or one of the Betamax VoIP brands with a zero tariff. They may not be able to give you an incoming number, so you could check if one of the others could forward to the SIP address
