KENMC.COM : The painters are in

I’m looking for colour opinions here. Also… according to my feedburner chicklet down the right of the page (which I’ve just added), I’ve got 14 people keeping tabs on my blog. Thanks for tuning in over the past while, and lets hope the blogging continues right through 2006.

Any of you 14 people fancy a suggestion or comment at the new colour scheme? Anyone remember the old one?

    sean…. cheers for that one!

keith… sound input mate, i’ve got a couple of lighter backgrounds made up that i may roll out. it sure is a big enough contrast to the bright white of the last edition so we’ll see how it plays out!

    ken,
have to say I preferred the older look. its something about the bold font that I’m not sure on. the colour scheme is good, but I agree with Keith, maybe a bit dark, feels like you might be selling computer games(?)

  5. Ken January 5, 2006 at 1:13 pm

thats exactly it. i’m changing everything in life to become a games retailer!

well coming from your own pov dude, would you think the the blog on a whole is too dark, or that the background of the site is too dark? meaning that the wallpaper is too dark (site better served with a bright background? like that of nflview.com, similar to my previous blog theme….?

  6. Rob Comber January 5, 2006 at 2:39 pm

yeah, i don’t know why but the whole dark thing just doesn’t work for me. It may be that the dark look feels a bit more like a personal, I want to say “grungy”. This sort of colour scheme might better suit say kilkennymusic. I actually really like the old look, it was simple, straight forward and honest.

hmmm…. for kkm that might be interesting, getting a kkm blog going, though that would need a bit of heavy consideration.

cheers for the feedback tho rob, the honest kind is the best kind (that goes for the others too…) it might well be just the shape and structure that i’m liking at the moment, might have a crack at hacking the the stylesheet and brighten it up.

something about the darker tones just appealed to me, not sure on what level to be perfectly honest…

so then the quesion arises, do you design your blog to reflect something that is more personal, or do you design it around the stuff you’re really selling….

    bwagh…!

“so then the quesion arises, do you design your blog to reflect something that is more personal, or do you design it around the stuff you’re really selling….”

IMHO the design should facilitate the reading of the blog / make the blog easy to read – and thats pretty much it. If personal preferences get in the way then they should be tweaked.

“would you think the the blog on a whole is too dark”
Yes. With Rob on this. I have never in recent memory stuck around for long enough to read any blog this opressively dark.

Abban my son has just looked over my shoulder and said “that looks like that Half-Life yoke”. So your games retailing career (as astutely picked up by Rob initially) is certainly on the up and up 🙂

easy to read eh? well that was the first blog anyway for sure….

good to know that i’ve been able to raise a sense of oppresion through the blog.

abban’s got a good line of thinking. i’m not a fan of half life at all and it never even crossed my mind.

damn intelligent kids…. he looking for a job in graphic design at all?

I do like the structure of the new site, very easy to navigate. but yes Half-Life it is!

  11. Ken January 5, 2006 at 3:37 pm

aye, think it was the structure i was going for. had fun enough over the christmas tearing apart a few themes for the ould blog….

    (damn half-life)

to the colour board we go…!
