Mark E Smith’s The Fall took to the Set stage as part of the Kilkenny Arts Festival last night with Dublin-based Toujacques opening the proceedings around 10.15pm or so.

While The Fall, as a band (minus Mark E Smith) were rocking, my thumbs up for the night goes to Tujacques. Cracking tunes with a gritty country blues feel underlying their set.

When The Fall did finally appear on stage, the hardcore fans and followers were all about the show but musically as a whole, it’s not for me.

I will say one thing though, he’s some character to see on stage and I’ll only wonder what they were like starting out some 30 albums ago.
